Internal Wall Insulation Installers in Bristol
Solid Wall Insulation
Uninsulated solid walls are responsible for between 35-45% of heat loss in the home.
This means that insulating solid external walls is one of the most efficient energy saving upgrades that can be made for a home. It not only reduces energy consumption, but also increases comfortability.
If your property feels cold and/or has condensation issues (e.g. black mould on the walls), it may have solid walls and might benefit from solid wall insulation.
Internal solid wall insulation can be retrofitted to most properties using different methods depending on the condition of the existing walls.
Internal Wall Insulation Installation Service
We install all types of internal wall insulation to solid and cavity wall properties.
We provide a full service including insulation installation and associated building works if required.
Types of Internal Wall Insulation
With many different varieties of interior wall insulation on the market and a variety of installation methods available, not all options may be listed. Should you have an alternative in mind for your project, please get in touch with us to discuss further.
The main types of insulation we install are:
High Performance PIR Thermal Laminate:
The High Performance PIR Thermal Laminate boards are good for energy saving because they have a low thermal conductivity of 0.022 W/mk. They come in different thicknesses from 37.5mm to 72.5mm.
They can be attached to walls easily and are made of rigid polyisocyanurate with pre-attached plasterboard, which makes them quick to install.
The boards also have an integrated vapour control layer and are environmentally friendly, with zero ozone depletion and low global warming potential.
Wood fibre boards:
The thermal conductivity of these boards is 0.036 W/mK, meaning they are good at saving energy. They come in different thicknesses from 20mm to 200mm.
These boards work well on walls that need breathable insulation, for example stone walls built with lime mortar. The boards are vapour permeable, which means they control moisture by absorption and redistribution within the board and integral mineral layer.
After installation, the boards are plastered with 2-coat lime plaster and then painted with a breathable paint.
The boards are environmentally friendly and can be recycled. The wood used for these boards comes from sustainably managed forests.
Insulated render:
Insulated render is a good option where space is limited but it may not provide a noticeable energy saving with a higher thermal conductivity of 0.07 - 0.09 W/mK.
The render is vapour permeable and suitable for application directly to solid walls. The render is finished with a top coat of vapour permeable finish plaster and then painted with a breathable paint.
